Zinc Metal Powder

Zinc powder is a gray metallic powder with regular spherical crystal form, density of 7.14g/cm3, melting point of 419°C and boiling point of 907°C. It is soluble in acid, alkali and ammonia, insoluble in water. With strong reducibility, it remains stable in dry air, but tends to agglomerate in moist air and generate basic zinc carbonate on the surface of the particles.

Properties: Zinc powder is a gray metallic powder with regular spherical crystal form, density of 7.14g/cm3, melting point of 419°C and boiling point of 907°C. It is soluble in acid, alkali and ammonia, insoluble in water. With strong reducibility, it remains stable in dry air, but tends to agglomerate in moist air and generate basic zinc carbonate on the surface of the particles.

Features: Produced in uniquely designed metallurgical furnaces with advanced distillation technique, our products have the following remarkable characteristics:

  • Low oxidization and high purity with the content of total zinc more than 99.5% and metallic zinc more than 97%.

  • Low content of harmful substances (especially lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury and iron) which is less than 0.001 %, high activity, corrosion resistance, environmentally friendly.

  • Particles of regular spherical structure with smooth crystal surface and less particles of irregular botryoidal and square-shaped structure.

Packaging: Conventional packaging of zinc powder are packed in iron drums or PP bags, both lined with plastic film inner bags (NW 50kg per drum or PP bag). Or packaging in flexible freight bags (NW 500/1000Kg per drum or PP bag). ln addition, we can use a variety of packaging in accordance with client's requirements. 

Storage: Our zinc powder products should be stored in dry and ventilative warehouse away from acid, alkali and inflammables. Be cautious of water and fire as well as packaging damage and spillage in storage and transportation. Zinc powder should be used up within three months from the date of manufacture and resealed the unused product.

Based on ASTM D520-00 and ROHS standards for quality control, the quality of our zinc powder product is superior to the national standard (GB/ T6890-2012) and industrial standard (YS/T 1051-2015). Application: 

  • Zinc Powder for Zinc-rich Anti-corrosion Coating

As a key raw material for zinc-rich anti-corrosion coatings, zinc powder is widely used in the coating of large steel structures(such as steel construction, marine engineering facilities, bridges, pipelines) as well as ships, containers which are not suitable for hot-dipping and electroplating. 

  • Zinc Powder for Mechanical Galvanizing

Zinc powder products are increasingly used for the galvanizing anti-corrosion of relatively small steelworks, such as prefabricated steel components, bolts, screws, drive pins.

  • Zinc Powder for Multi-Element Alloy Co-Infiltration

Zinc powder products are increasingly used for the galvanizing anti-corrosion of relatively small steelworks, such as prefabricated steel components, bolts, screws, drive pins. 

  • Zinc Powder for Catalytic Reduction

Zinc powder products are widely used in the production of chemical products such as Rongalite, dye intermediates, plastic additives, sodium hydrosulfite, lithopone, etc., playing the role of catalyst, reducing agent, and hydrogen ion generator in the production process.

Flake zinc powder products are widely used in the production process of Dacromet coating solution. Because flake zinc powder has stronger covering ability, floating ability, shielding ability and metallic luster than spherical zinc powder, in the Dacromet coating solution prepared with it, the zinc powder is scaly arranged, flakes are lapped to each other in parallel and contact method is surface contact, which effectively improves the conductivity between zinc and steel and between zinc particles. The coating is dense and the corrosion route is extended, which not only reduces the zinc consumption per unit area and the thickness of the coating, but also improves the shielding performance and corrosion resistance of the coating.

  • Flake Zinc Powder for Zinc-Rich Coating

Flake zinc powder products could also be applied in the production process of zinc-rich coating. Because flake zinc powder has stronger covering ability, floating ability, shielding ability and metallic luster than spherical zinc powder, the zinc-rich coating prepared from flake zinc powder products features better suspending performance and is less likely to precipitate. The surface of the coating is bright with strong metallic texture, which boasts strong adhesion between the bottom layer and the coating, low porosity and permeability, and better corrosion resistance. With the same anti-corrosion performance, the zinc-rich coating prepared with flake zinc powder uses less zinc per unit area and is more environmentally friendly than the zinc-rich coating prepared with spherical zinc powder series products.
